New Indoor Pickleball and Tennis Facility (Okotoks, AB)

About Us
We are an exciting new 12-court indoor pickleball and 1-court indoor tennis facility opening soon in Okotoks, Alberta. Phase 2 outdoor expansion will see the addition of 12 pickleball courts and 2 tennis courts in 2027. As a not-for-profit organization, our mission is to build community, promote active living, and provide an inclusive space for players of all ages and abilities. Our most important mission is to engage “10,000 in 5” by introducing pickleball to 10,000 youth players in our first 5 years of operation.
We are seeking an energetic, skilled, and community-minded Program Director-Pickleball to establish and lead all pickleball programming, and in particular, our flagship ‘10,000 in 5’ youth program. This individual will be the face of our programming — building an inclusive, vibrant, and thriving pickleball community.
Position Overview
The Program Director-Pickleball is responsible for designing, delivering, and overseeing all pickleball programs for players of all ages and levels. This includes coaching, league and clinic development, tournament planning, and the recruitment and management of
contracted coaches. Reporting to the General Manager, this role is both hands-on (on-court) and strategic (program planning, scheduling, and evaluation). This is a key leadership position that directly influences member experience, program quality, and the growth of pickleball within the community.
Key Responsibilities:
PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT AND DELIVERY
• Design, build, and deliver a full suite of pickleball programs including:
- ‘10,000 in 5’ youth program
- Leagues, ladders, and tournaments
- Instructional programs, clinics, and camps
- Youth, adult, and senior programming
• Create a progressive development pathway for beginners through advanced competitive pickleball players.
• Lead instruction for both group and private pickleball lessons.
• Coordinate start-up and integration of tennis program.
• Manage court utilization and scheduling for optimal player experience.
COACHING LEADERSHIP
• Recruit, screen, hire, and schedule, qualified contracted coaches and teaching professionals.
• Provide mentorship, training, and quality-control standards for all coaching staff.
• Maintain a positive, professional coaching culture aligned with the facility’s mission.
EVENT AND COMPETITION COORDINATION
• Plan and deliver tournaments, ladders, rating sessions, and special events.
• Support the General Manager with community outreach, school programs, and partnership activities.
• Organize social events, member appreciation days, and outreach programs.
OPERATION AND ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES
• Build and maintain program schedules in coordination with the General Manager.
• Monitor attendance, program demand, and participant feedback to refine offerings.
• Maintain accurate records, prepare program reports, and ensure compliance with policies and safety standards.
• Assist with court utilization planning and ensuring efficient use of facility resources.
• Connect with community partners through direct or indirect methods in an effort to meet operational goals related to programming.
What You Bring
• A passion for building community and creating positive sport experiences through pickleball.
• Pickleball Canada (National Coaching Certification Program) coaching credentials required or in progress. Minimum NCCP - Level 2 preferred.
• Proven coaching experience across multiple skill levels (recreational to competitive).
• Experience designing programs, managing schedules, and leading group instruction.
• Robust leadership skills with the ability to inspire players and coaches.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience hiring, mentoring, or supervising coaching staff is a desired asset.
• Solid understanding of pickleball rules, rating systems, and player development pathways.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends as program demands require.
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive, community-oriented environment.
• Current First Aid is required, and CPR certification will be an asset.
• Successful candidates will be required to undergo a Police Record Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Check, as a condition of employment.
